And today I want to pray with you a prayer

for a new season of growth.

When the temperature warms up,

the scent of the first rain and spring fills my lungs with hope.

Perhaps you too are living in anticipation of a fresh breath of life.

It seems my prayer life feels the same urge.

Lord, I'd sure love to see some proof of the work you're doing.

I'm guessing you know what I mean.

Maybe you're living in a dark season or have walked through a set of harsh circumstances, yet a glimpse of green

is all you long for spiritually. God, if only I could get a peak of new growth.

In Colossians, 2-7, Paul gave the Colossian Church a word of

encouragement in this regard. In the new living translation, Colossians 2 7 says,

let your roots grow down into him. translation, Colossians 2-7, says,

let your roots grow down into him,

and let your lives be built on him.

Then your faith will grow in the truth you were taught

and you will overflow with thankfulness. When he wrote the letter of

Colossians to them he was agonized and long for them to be knit together in strong

ties of love. He knew that community would be crucial to their faith. They

needed one another, but he didn't leave it at that. He then said,

Let your roots grow down into him. What if we prayed, Lord's deepened my roots in this season.
