WELCOME THE GOLDEN GIRLS DEEP DIVE PODCAST! Starting from the beginning of the show, each week we recap an episode of The Golden Girls. Along the way, we sprinkle in researched deep dives into something from the episode or The Golden Girls universe!

In Season 2 Episode 25, the ladies are setting up a surprise party for their neighbor down the street (so they say...). Shenanigans ensue when we learn that Sophia forgot to make the cake, so the girls have forty-five minutes to sit and reminisce about birthday parties past. We laugh along with Mr. Haha, bawl our eyes out with Rose's last solo birthday cake, and travel back to Brooklyn to celebrate Sophia's 50th. And all just in time for Mother Cheesecake's birthday, too!!

Our episodes are researched by Jess McKillop, Patrick Hinds, and Jennifer Simard. All of our sources can be found on our website. Follow us on Instagram and TikTok at @GoldenGirlsDeepDive

Yes. And if you're like me in an introvert, you can be a lurker. You don't have to be all social. One of the cheeses out there has been taking our moments from our episodes and turning them into scenes that they're like recording themselves being both you and me. Do that, Cheeses. I love it. We will share it far and wide. It is my favorite thing. Make your TikToks about us and we will share them everywhere. The creativity of the cheesy is incredible. It's so good. So we already talked about the episode proper, but it was written by Kathy Spear, Terry Grossman, Mort Nathan, and Barry Fanaro. And that'll make sense because there are scene lets in this episode. In season one when we had an episode like this, it had that many writers. Exactly. This was directed by Terry Hughes. Yep. Original air date May 9th, 1987. And there was stuff happening in the world. Yeah. So this week on the Billboard chart, it was number three. But it eventually did make it to number one. And this is U2's famous song, With or Without You.

1:46.5

Uh, With or Without You.

1:51.1

Yeah.

But it's from the famous studio album, The Joshua Tree. Yes. All right. And Bono discussed the meaning of with or without you because there's lots of talk about that. Yeah. Yeah. And what he said was it's a lose-lose situation. A, should I stay or should I go predicament, if you will. It's a song about an impossible relationship that the singer

can't escape, nothing to win and nothing left to lose. While many have assumed that the meaning of

this song is about a romantic relationship turns sour, and they would be correct, Bono occasionally

offered a second meaning for the songs, Larry. And this is what I found interesting. He wrote it with

the other members of you two, Adam Clayton, Larry Mullen Jr. what I found interesting. He wrote it with the other members of you, too,
