I've admired you from afar for a while and then I think we had a good mutual friend Betsy Gray, who's sort of a spiritual grandmother to me and a long time pregnancy resource center director, who's now launching pro life bank with Nick Voyach, who told me that I was long overdue in connecting with you. |
1:57.0 | So I'm glad we were finally able to coordinate to have you on the show. A lot of people are not aware of your story, but those in the pro life movement have seen sort of your videos and speaking for a while. |
2:09.0 | So I wanted you to tell your story before we get into kind of what you're up to now. We gave a teaser at the at the front of the show, but it's a beautiful story, how God used you to shut down a killing center and turn it into a place of life. |
2:24.0 | But let's rewind even before their bill. How did you get involved in medicine and when did God sort of begin to burden your heart for the unborn? |
2:35.0 | I guess I got involved in medicine as a young child when I had several surgeries when I was a child. |
2:42.0 | Everything from an appendectomy to plastic surgery after injuries and you know, I just started to have an interest in that field and then throughout college and then applied for medical school. |
2:54.0 | And so you still know what you want to do is a specialty, but I found myself on orthopedic rotations, but study and obstetrics and there was just something very special about bringing new life into the woman really having two patients where you had the patient. |

3:42.0 | We took over the practice and didn't tell our other intentions, but on day one, we stopped all abortions and all abortion referrals and we told the staff that they are welcome to stay, but they're going to be some big changes. |
3:55.0 | Somebody for an abortion, packed your desk and that will be your last day. And we thought we had done a good thing and it wasn't until it was a Sunday afternoon when I had finished going to church and actually had a key for the office and I put it over to the office, opened it up and I had never been upstairs. |
4:15.0 | I was waiting in the first floor with all the waiting area exam rooms, offices, but I'd never been to the surgical suite upstairs. |
4:23.0 | And so I walked up those gray stairs going upstairs and I couldn't help but think how many thousands of moms had walked up that same set of stairs, made a turn at the top and then spent 20 or 30 minutes in that room and then walked down that same set of stairs without that baby on the inside. |
