In addition to our English language podcast, Israel Story, we run a whole other parallel operation of live storytelling events here in Jerusalem.

It's something we began almost three years ago together with the Jerusalem Foundation and

honestly it's an ongoing source of strength

optimism and pleasure even these days if Israel's story started off as an Israeli

version of this American life.

These live storytelling events are our local take on the moth.

The events happen all around town,

in East Jerusalem, West Jerusalem, religious neighborhoods, secular neighborhoods, in Hebrew and Arabic and English, even in Yiddish.

We choose a topic, publicize it, receive submissions, select storytellers, and help them over the course of several

sessions with our producers make their stories the absolute best version of themselves. Our storytellers aren't performers.

They're kindergarten teachers and tax lawyers, emergency room nurses and

Simcard sellers, but they all have a story to tell. and

the same card sellers. And then, after all the feedback and the training,

the night finally arrives.

They get up on stage, sometimes there's 50 people in the audience, sometimes 300, and they tell their stories.
