tech I'm Lily Dromale. A team from the University of Glasgow in Scotland is developing a robot guide dog. It's aimed at helping the visually

impaired find their way around. They're calling the AI-powered device the

Robo Guide. The BBC's Shona McCallum brings us along on her visit with one of the

robo-dogs and its handler, Dr. Waseim Ahmed.

So we have here Robbie, the robotic dog.

Hello, this is Roby the robotic guide dog from the CSI research group.

The purpose of this machine is to guide and help blind and partially sighted people.

And how do they feel about a robotic dog as opposed to a real animal?

Honestly speaking, we were not expecting the positive response that we received,

so they were very, very excited. One of the things cannot at the moment do is to create

that bonding that the actual dog can create with their owner. Our objective is we can try to develop it in such a way that the blind and partially sight people can rely on it.

They can trust its ability to take them safely from point A to point B to navigate safely indoor spaces like

very busy shopping centers or exhibition center.
