Today we're going to talk about a certain study that has been circulating the news regarding hydroxychloroquine.

According to the news, this study found that hydroxychloroquine was not effective and was even associated with a higher death rate.

 • This study wasn't even published yet.

 • This study wasn't peer-reviewed.

 • This study was a retrospective study.

A retrospective study means that they're using data or events that happened in the past. This was done in a VA hospital. They took the data from the patient's charts and summarized it. This study included 368 patients, and they compared three groups of patients.

The first group was treated with hydroxychloroquine. The second group was treated with hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin. The third group was not treated with hydroxychloroquine.

Hydroxychloroquine is an ionophore. It allows zinc to travel inside the cell. If there's enough zinc in the cell, this can potentially inhibit the machinery that's causing the replication of the virus. It sounds promising, especially when combined with zinc. In this study, they did not use zinc. Vitamin D was also not involved. Vitamin D is incredibly important in supporting the immune system and inhibiting cytokine storm.

Each of the groups in the study is very different. Severe cases of COVID-19, as in the first two groups, require hydroxychloroquine. Less severe cases do not, as in the last group.

This study emphasized that the group that wasn't treated with hydroxychloroquine had 18 deaths versus 27 deaths in the group treated only with hydroxychloroquine.

Without understanding this study, it appears that the drug could make you worse. But, in reality, the groups treated with hydroxychloroquine were much sicker than the group that wasn't.

0:56.1

usage in United States veterans hospitalized with COVID-19. So what they found was that hydroxylchloricwin did not work. It wasn't effective.

1:06.7

In fact, it had a higher death rate. Now, that's what they're pushing out there.

1:11.6

Okay, so they're freaking everyone everyone out because you're hearing all this conflicting information that it's good, it's bad, we should stay away from it, so it's one big confusion.

1:20.6

First let me just tell you, this study was not published yet it wasn't peer reviewed and it was a

1:27.0

retrospective study now what does that mean it means that they're using data or events that happened in the past.

1:35.0

Okay, so this was done in a VA hospital and they opened up the patient's charts and they took the data and they summarized it. It was done in

1:44.0

368 patients, okay, so that's a fairly large study and they compared three

1:48.9

groups of patients. The first group was treated with hydroxyl chloroquine.

1:53.7

The second group was treated not only with hydroxyloquine, but a Zethromycin.

1:58.6

And the last group was not treated with hydroxyloquine.

2:02.4

Three groups, three different perchloricolines. not treated with hydroxylchloricine. Three different protocols. If you're not

2:06.0

familiar with hydroxicloricine, this is a drug that's being repurposed. It was

2:11.2

used for malaria and now they're using it for COVID-19 because it's what's called the ionophore and

2:18.5

What that does is it allows zinc to travel inside the cell.

2:24.0

And if there's enough zinc in the cell,

2:25.7

that can inhibit the machinery that is causing

2:29.3

the replication of the viruses.
