insurmountable odds and made huge sacrifices without the promise of fame or glory.

Now once such men was Ernest E. Evans, a World War II naval officer who fought in the Battle

of Samar Island.

Now in that battle, the Battle of Taffy III, a small U.S. naval task force was ambushed

by a large Japanese fleet of 23 ships, hell bent on destroying that small, relatively

undefended section of the American Navy.
