A year in college or half million dollars.

That was the choice facing the country's top high school basketball prospect.

And he is choosing the latter.

Jalen Green, the number one ranked player in the ESP 100,

announcing Thursday that he will be the first participant in the G-League's NBA Professional Pathway program

where he can earn more than $500,000 next season while improving his NBA draft status without having to go overseas to do it.

For more than a decade now, one and done has been the law of the land for top NBA talent.

But now, elite high school recruits like next year's top prospect, Jalen Green, are passing on college

altogether, opting instead to play and get paid for the newly formed select team in the NBA's G-League.

Woj, it has now been three weeks since number one ranked high school recruit Jalen Green announced on Instagram that he'd be passing on numerous college offers to instead become part of the new and improved G-League Professional Pathway Program.

That's what it's called.

Can you explain what it is and how it began?

Mina, it's really a bridge between the end of the one and done era in college basketball and the NBA and what had existed, which was really limited options for an elite high school player

to do anything but go to college basketball.

They put this program in place two years ago.

And they started off with players who they felt would be first round picks who were highly

regarded coming out of high school, $125,000 and you would be assigned to a G-League team,
