In 2015, he was promoted to Sergeant II, and assigned to the Southeast Area Community Safety Partnership (CSP) serving the housing developments in Watts. In 2017, Ryan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the West Valley Division. As a Lieutenant, Ryan served as the Officer-in-Charge of Hollenbeck, as well as the Newton Area Gang Impact Team and the Commanding Officer of Newton Area Detectives. In October 2020, Ryan was promoted to Captain and assigned to the West Los Angeles Patrol Division. In June of 2021, he was assigned to Community Safety Partnership Bureau (CSPB) where he oversees teams in Operations South Bureau (OSB). I'll be honest with you because sometimes cops came on to be cops, right?

What they saw on TV, what they saw on cops or whatever it may be, you know, the

adrenaline junkies that want to chase people with guns, I get it.

There's time to do cop stuff.

But can we, again, back to building better cops, can we make it okay for them to take 10 minutes with

a domestic violence victim and their kids after we just took the dad to jail?

And historically, we would just leave and mom would have anxiety because she might not have

a job, might not know how she's going to get her kids to school, can't drive.

And then do those kids,

they don't see their dad as a domestic violence suspect.
