Today, Holly Ann from Crime With Holly joins Tab to explore the case of Amanda “Mandy” Stavik (b. April 16, 1971), who vanished during a Thanksgiving run in Acme, WA, on November 24, 1989, her German Shepherd returned home alone that evening. Three days later, her body was recovered in the South Fork of the Nooksack River, and the autopsy ruled her death a homicide by sexual assault and drowning. Semen evidence preserved in 1989 went unmatched until familial-DNA methods in the early 2010s identified Timothy Forrest Bass as a suspect. In December 2017, covertly collected DNA from Bass’s discarded soda can confirmed the match. He was arrested on December 13, 2017, convicted on May 24, 2019, and sentenced to 27 years...
