So today I wanted to talk a little bit about gratitude and appreciation.

I think sometimes it's hard to feel gratitude or appreciation for the things in our life, especially if we're experiencing difficulties.

The truth is, it's so easy to watch life go by, always wishing for the things that we don't have or that we want.

It's rare to actually pause and notice what we do have and we can end up missing out on so many moments.

Moments that are both precious but also mundane and I wanted to share a quote from a wonderful book, Full Catastory Living.

And it goes, oh, I've had my moments and if I had to do it over again, I'd have more of them.

In fact, I'd try to have nothing else, just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

Now this quote is by a lady named Nadine Stair, who was 85 at the time the book was written.

And when I first read that quote, I was struck with how many moments I've missed in my life.

Moments I've spent fixated on things that I wish I could have or that I wish were happening, instead of just being in the moment with what I do have.

But being present takes some practice. And what does it really mean to be present?

Well, the way it was taught to me is that present moment awareness is when you're fully engaged with both mind and body, free from distraction, with a soft and open mind.

And it's hard to feel an appreciation or to feel connected to those around you or with what you're doing.
