brought to you by Punch Bowl News. It's Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, the Midwest nice debate. Number two,

Lena Khan hits the trail with Democrats. And number three, what the three Johns are up to.

All right, Jake, let's get into it. Last night was all about J.D. Vance and Tim Walts. There are 34

days until Election Day. And it was the one and only vice presidential

debate. Of course, elections don't usually hinge on VP debates, but it was a really interesting

look and frankly felt as though we were in a throwback to debates and politics of a different

era where two politicians with Capitol Hill experience gently traded statistic-laced

barbs. I think most people believe Vance kind of came up with an edge here, but it was just

kind of a shock to watch how different it was in a Trump era,

which is usually gets really personal, can get pretty ugly in these debates.

And we didn't see that.

Yeah, so, yeah, first of all, these things should start before 9 p.m.

There should be like a separate feed for people who have to get up and do newsletters.

And so if we could work on that for next cycle.
