On April 26, 2002, a young man who felt he had no future and no job prospects, picked up a gun and

took out his anger on the school who he felt ruined his life. So if you like your coffee hot

At around 9.30 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2002, a young man named Robert Steinhauser left his home

on the outskirts of Erfurt, Germany, and made his way to the bus stop.

He sat calmly on the 20-minute bus ride to the Gutenberg Gymnasium, his secondary school, where he told

his parents that he needed to take a math exam that would ensure his placement in a university.

What his parents didn't know, what Robert had neglected to tell them, was that he had recently

been expelled from school forging some doctor's notes, a detail we will get into a little bit more in a second.

As far as they knew, nothing was amiss, even wishing him luck on his test and saying goodbye

to the son who had been pretending each morning to head off to school.
