ADVERTS DISCLAIMER:

This podcast has ads at the start of every episode. However never in the middle of a story or at the end.

Please be assured all ad blocks have been applied to ensure no over 18 or inappropriate ads are played.

However, there may be the odd occasion where an advert slips through the net because the company submitting them submits them under a category that is not correct. This happens very rarely and I do my upmost to stop this happening.

If this happens, please email me at [email protected] and let me know the following information: What the ad was for? What state you live in? And what episode you heard it on and I will immediately contact Spreaker to block the ad.

I take this very seriously and I really appreciate your support and co-operation.

As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s ad free.

My house was in an uproar. Mom was pacing whilst making lists, and Dad was digging out old supplies.

0:14.8

The pets were getting angsty from watching Mom and Dad run back and forth. I was playing video games. Mom poked her head

0:23.1

through my doorway, sighed, and said, Oh, come on, Daniel, it's time to get moving.

0:29.6

All right, I said reluctantly, putting down my controller. I was supposed to be packing for my big

0:36.7

trip. You see, last week, my teacher gave us

0:40.4

this big assignment for Family Week. We're supposed to write about our grandparents.

Plus, we get extra credit for any photos or special heirlooms. That means really important objects

0:53.2

that we bring in. Now, that might not sound like a big deal,

0:57.8

but I had a problem. One of my grandpas lives far away, and I practically never see him. I told

1:05.0

Mom it was okay and that I could just write about Grandma Joe, but she got kind of weepy, made some calls,

1:12.7

and the next thing I knew, I was roped in to a big trip with my grandpa.

1:18.1

My grandpa lives out in the woods in a log cabin that he built himself.

1:23.6

He doesn't get online much, and I really don't see him at parties.

1:29.3

I mean, don't get me wrong,

1:35.1

I like my grandpa, but I was a little nervous, too, to spend a week in the woods with him.

1:41.8

I was worried he might not have good Wi-Fi out in the woods. And what would we talk about?

1:47.7

Trees? I finished packing and hopped into the car. It was a long drive out to grandpa's log cabin, so Dad played the radio and I took a nap. While I napped, I dreamt about Grandpa.

1:56.1

I dreamt that Grandpa had a big TV screen and the best gaming system around. I woke up to the sounds of

2:04.0

gravel on tires as Dad pulled up to a tiny log house. Standing on the cabin's front stoop was my

2:11.6

grandpa. He smiled and waved as he called out. Ready for fun, Danny boy?

2:18.7

I hopped out of the car and ran to give him a hug.

2:22.4

His smile reminded me of my own, and it made my nerves go away.
