Well, hey church, go ahead and open your Bibles to 2 Chronicles chapter 16 verse 9.

We're looking at a message this afternoon entitled A Loyal Heart.

And yes, you heard that right.

We are going to be opening up the book of 2 Chronicles.

Now, surely must have meant 2 Corinthians, right?

I mean, isn't Chronicles just a book with a ton of names and genealogies?

We know we probably should care about, but typically skip over in our one year Bible reading.

Well, hopefully not, but Chronicles is so much more than just names.

Those names have a grand purpose.

That's not the topic for today's study, so take heart.

However, when you look at the book of 1st and 2nd Chronicles,

it's an incredible retelling of the Old Testament history

in important and applicable detail.

And it's something that we must not look past.

Paul said to the Ephesian elders in Acts 20,

he said to them, for I have not shunned to declare to you the whole council of God.

And we must not get away from reading what God has written.

Romans 15, 4 is a way of introduction.

He says this regarding the Old Testament scriptures, like Chronicles, for example.

For whatever things were written before, so that would be the Old Testament,

we're written for our learning that we, through the patience and comfort of the scriptures, might have hope.
