I am Zach Jackson.

We are about four-ish hours after day one of Brown's Eagles joint practices.

A disappointing day for the Browns, no doubt.

Because the best story, the biggest story, has hit a detour.

Shador Sanders has an oblique strain.

He did not participate in practice.

He will not participate in the second practice.

And the whole landscape of the quarterback competition has changed.

And maybe what I just said, the way I just said it is not 100% accurate.

And therein lies the complication.

The most tantalizing and arguably most talented of the quarterbacks is not going to be involved for a few days.

And now we'll miss his chance to play somewhere between two and three quarters of another preseason game.

And so a quarterback competition that has seen now three guys miss multiple days, at least parts of them,

with various injuries of varying in uncertain degrees.

It's coming to an end with Joe Flacco as the clear winner.

The 40-year-old, the only one not missing time, you just never know in this league.

And in a time when clearly every practice and every opportunity for Shador to play was not only

exciting but important to his growth because this is about his growth.

It's not about one preseason game.

It's not about the absolute delusion that some of you have had, even though I've told you

otherwise, that he would be starting this September because that was never going to happen.
