Tonight I'll be reading Part 8, Chapter 10 of A Little Princess by Francis Hodgson-Bennett.

In the previous chapter, Sarah calms a confused lottie by describing her dismal attic as a nest,

enchanting the young girl with tales of sparrows and the sky. Sarah later discovers a rat,

whom she calls Malkisadec.

Instead of being scared, she uses her imagination to befriend him,

feeding him scraps and believing him a fellow prisoner in her bastille.

This new friendship gives Sarah a sense of community, allowing her to endure her new lonely life.

Now that we're caught up with the story so far, let's get ourselves ready for sleep.
