Everyone loves a good story and a good storyteller.

But there is no storyteller like the Lord Jesus, and there are no greater stories told than the ones Jesus shared.

In this study, spiritual stories, we consider the parables Jesus told

and their application to us. These are truly the greatest stories ever told, and the Lord

has something He wants to say to you through them. Let's join Scott Pauley now.

I am not a baker, but I have eaten a lot of baked goods and enjoy that very much.

But this much I do know, Levin is used in baking as an agent that causes the dough to rise. It infiltrates and influences the entire dough to make it become a little different

than its original form. Now, levin is used all through Scripture symbolically.

And in the parable we've come to today, Jesus is about to use Levin. We've got to learn what it means

because we want to interpret it correctly. We want to use Levin like Jesus used Levin in our

understanding of Scripture. We return to Matthew 13, this great kingdom parable chapter,

and today's parable is wound up in one verse.

Amazing, isn't it, how much Jesus can say in a very few words.

He packages it all together very succinctly, very simply.

Matthew chapter 13, verse 33, another parable, spake he unto them.

The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till the whole was leavened.

That's the whole parable.

You can read the parallel in Luke chapter number 13. It's two verses there, but this is the parable of the leaven. Leaven placed in the dough, and it caused, that little tiny bit of leaven caused the entire loaf, the entire amount of dough to rise. Now, it's very important to recognize that this parable is the continuation of the last

parable.

It's placed immediately after the last parable we studied.

If you remember, that was the mustard seed growing unnaturally into a massive tree.

It was unhealthy growth.
