Now here we are moving into November. And about now at Sparkle Stories, we do a very specific

celebration. You could call it a lantern festival. It's also known as Martin Miss. And this is the

time of year where in the northern hemisphere it's getting darker and darker, meaning the nights

are growing longer and the days are growing shorter.

And here in Vermont, where Sparkle is headquartered, it's getting quite dark early.

It gets dark early.

And so in the lantern festival or in Martin's, one of the things we do is we build lanterns,

or we pull out our lanterns from previous years, and we light them

as a way of saying, hey, I have my own little light that I can shine in the darkness.

And you know, even the light of one little candle can make a difference in a dark room.

So my little light in the world makes a giant difference. So we light our

candles and we walk the neighborhood or we walk the road or we walk the woodland paths to celebrate

this time of year. It's a beautiful, beautiful, simple celebration, reminding us the difference

we can make in the world just with our own little light.

So I have picked a story about this. It's called A Little Bit of Light. And it's from the Martin and

Sylvia More Adventurers Collection. And this is what the children do. At this time of year,

when the trees have lost their leaves and the ground starts to have frost, Martin and Sylvia make their lanterns, and they have an annual lantern festival.

And this year, there's a little challenge with their lantern festival.
