Summary

In this Dateline classic episode Keith Morrison is taking us to small town middle California where the only shade thrown is from the cottonwood trees. However, a local UPS man is on trial for the murder of his wife and the prosecution is about to deliver the jury a packaged case that is odd looking and poorly taped. And Mr. Morrison is having none of it. Kimberly and Katie discuss internet romances that lead to broken hearts and internet auditory illusions that lead to broken brains. Laurel? Yanni? Who cares!! Because this is the very, very, VERY special Dateline where Keith almost burns it all to the ground. It's A DATE WITH DATELINE: Cat Scratch Fevered Imagination! They're shalom. I have no idea on TV for the Olympics. So we picked an episode called Killing

0:28.6

in Cottonwood. Otherwise known as the episode where Keith gets into a fight with a lawyer.

0:33.3

That's awesome. Wow. It's so good. And also an episode where you've rewind one part about 50 times

0:40.8

to try to figure out a certain piece of information to see if you're smarter than everyone else.

0:45.2

Right. Exactly. Interestingly enough, this is season 22, episode 16. There's another episode

0:51.4

in season 22 called Secrets of Cottonwood Creek. So two episodes in the same season with the

0:58.0

word Cottonwood in them. It's very confusing. Don't be confused. Yeah. So this aired on January

1:04.8

3rd, 2004, hosted by of course, Keith, who found that lawyer very hinky. She a DA or just a prosecutor

1:13.7

because somebody referred to her as the DA at one point and I'm like, we're not told that she's

1:17.6

the DA. We're told she's the prosecutor. She might be the DA. I don't know. He thought she was

1:23.5

hinky. I'm trying to get in a squeeze in hinky. And what was the other world we learned from Keith

1:28.4

last week? Buffaloed her motives were hinky for sure. Yeah. So we are in Reading, California.

1:35.8

Do you have an association to Reading, California? I've driven through it. Yeah. I think I went to

1:40.8

a tennis tournament there a couple times. It's in that middle armpit area. Right. That middle of

1:47.1

California that people think all of California is the same. And then you go to Reading.

1:51.6

We're a Fresno. And you're like, no, it's not. It's different. Well, Keith says it has a middle

1:58.6

America feel. Correct. And it's a whole different lifestyle from the California reputation that

2:06.8

quote, blayers of Technicolor from the Botoxed and TMZ Narcissism 600 miles to the south.

2:15.2

Who are you, Keith? What's going on? I think he's talking about me. I felt personally insulted.
