Neals Hougall was born on December 30th, 1976, in the coastal town of Wilhelmshaven.

Inspired by both his father and grandmother, Neals, who described his childhood as sheltered

and protected, completed his

vocational training in 1997 and became a nurse at the Sankt Willhud Hospital until 1999 when

he was hired at the Oldenburg Clinic and stationed in its cardiac surgery intensive

care unit. A unit where, by August of 2001, doctors and medical orderlies held a meeting

and addressed the unusual spike in both resuscitations and deaths. A meeting that Nealz attended

and listened on, knowing that 58% of those incidents occurred while he was on duty. After the meeting,
