Hopefully you managed to catch the first part of our chat with sound artist Jez Riley French last week.

Now in this edition, Jez is going to be sharing some more of his remarkable sounds and we're going to kick off with buildings.

I guess that was one of my first of sound obsessions was the sound of built spaces.

Partly because I used to be a choir boy,

and our choir master used to make us sit in silence listening to the church for about 20 minutes before our rehearsals,

which at the time drove me mad.

But I think it had an impact.

And I got really into just sitting and listening to buildings.

And when I started to make contact microphones,

I wanted to hear what the building had, and that's how I perceived it at the time.

So I attach contact microphones and other types of microphones to the building

to hear the vibrations and the resonances of the building itself.
