In this episode of Brightheart, we conclude a short series entitled A Homemaker's Rules

for Life, where we've been working through some foundational principles in the life of the

homemaker.

What is she prone to forget in the thick of a busy day, week, and month?

What truth does she need to be tethered to in the gales of motherhood, the pressure of keeping

a home, and the business of a productive life lived before the Lord?

For many of you, these won't be brand new ideas.

Most of what we need to hear doesn't fall in that category after all. Did you snap at your kids because you just didn't know

that you shouldn't have? Were you disrespectful to your husband because nobody ever told you

shouldn't be? Of course not. We all need to be reminded of these things from time to time.

The seventh and final rule goes like this.

Joy is found in dying for what you love.

The joy you were made to long for is not to be found in living for yourself.

This is a design feature, not a bug.

God did this.

She who keeps her life loses it, but she who gives it away finds it.

So when in doubt, die for what you love. Once you're in the hands of the one who is called

faithful and true, once he is unbending you, unworping your soul, once your loves are being

ordered aright, then you must learn to die for the things you love.
