0:00.0	There was one man who Jesus himself said was the greatest man born of work.
0:14.0	As we study through the life of John the Baptist, we will discover why God used him in such a powerful way.
0:20.0	Join us now for today's study. We're journing through these gospel records right now, and we're journeying with one of the great characters of the Bible, a man known as John the Baptist.
0:51.3	On our journey, I bring you today back to Luke chapter number one,
0:55.2	a passage that we actually began in as we talked about John the Baptist family.
0:59.6	We looked at his father, we looked at his mother,
1:01.5	but I return to Luke chapter one today because I want you to look a little more carefully at John himself.
1:07.5	We're talking about his testimony, why the Lord used him, why he is a man we're still talking
1:13.9	about today. We've discovered, first of all, that this man that Jesus said was the greatest man
1:19.5	born of woman was a humble man. We learned that in Mark chapter 1. He was a man filled with
1:25.7	humility because he had his eyes on the greatness of God.
1:29.3	When you come to Luke chapter one, we're reminded of another truth.
1:33.3	Not only was he a humble man, he was a holy man.
1:37.3	You see, when you come to Luke chapter number one, you come to the truth that God set John apart.
1:43.3	He was different. And he wasn't just different
1:46.6	because he lived in the wilderness. He wasn't different because he was trying to be different.
1:51.3	He was different because God made him different. He was different because the presence of God
1:56.5	and his life set him apart from others. You see, true separation is not us trying to be different.
2:03.6	True separation is us getting so close to God and the Lord being so big in our lives.
2:09.6	Suddenly the presence of God sanctifies us. Luke chapter number one says of John the Baptist in verse 15, for he shall be great in the sight of the
2:20.3	Lord. Now remember, remember Jesus said in Matthew 11 at the end of his life, he was the greatest man
2:25.4	born of woman. So everything that God promised would be true of this man was fulfilled. He finished his
