In the book of Revelation, the Apostle John gives us a glimpse of things to come.

The glorious vision of what God will consummate in the future,

and the world we live in, which as John says lies in the evil one.

And in the middle, in the meantime, the promise that John also gives us,

the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.

That glorious truth gives us hope as we live here in the middle, in the meantime.

And today, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson takes us to the book of Revelation

to remind us of what has been prepared for those who remember what God said.

This is the way, walk in it.

I remember as a youngster how excited I was when we got the mathematics textbooks

for the beginning of a new year, opened the front page,

and saw those glorious words, the answers are all to be found at the back of the book.

And that's where we're going to turn this morning to Revelation chapter 21,

going to read the first five verses there.

Then, says the Apostle John, I saw a new heaven and a new earth,

for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.

And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,

prepared as a bride, a dawn for her husband.

And I had a loud voice from the throne saying, behold, the dwelling place of God is with man.

He will dwell with them, and they will be His people.

And God Himself will be with them as their God.
