On December 2, 2004, two co-workers came into work at Al Zulu's remodeling specialist

in Rockford, Illinois, and found a horrific scene in the back hallway.

They saw their 69-year-old co-worker, Mary Ann Clibbry, lying face down in a pool of blood.

Mary Ann had been beaten to death, and there was blood everywhere, pulling on the floor,

splattered on the walls.

Whoever hit Mary Ann had done it with enough force to make the blood drops fly 15 feet.

Now Rockford is the second largest city in Illinois, right after Chicago, but residents

there say that despite that, it has a hometown feel, and Mary Ann was a pillar of the community.

Everyone knew her from the print and TV ads she filmed for Al Zulu's remodeling specialist,

along with her business partner, 64-year-old George Hanson.

Growing up in the 80s and 90s, we saw a lot of these TV ads.

Local cable was a big deal, and a lot of people in the community would star in their own ads.

At Al Zulu's, the dump move improved, where one call does it all.

Mary Ann had worked at Al Zulu's for over 30 years.

Friends and families say that she was kind and generous.

The type of person who would do anything for anyone.

On the morning of the 22nd, George Hanson and another colleague, Randy Baxter, arrived

at the office at around 7 a.m.

After Randy found Mary Ann's body, he called 911.

Once police got to the scene, they began trying to piece together what had happened.
