0:00.0	We began a series entitled The Heart for God. We saw that the first characteristic of a person
0:08.3	who has a heart for God is that he's available. And we talked about God is looking for more
0:15.5	of an availability than ability, because all abilities come from him. And secondly, we saw how a heart for God allows faith to overwhelm fear.
0:28.7	And today we're going to see this heart for God, a man who was courageous without being
0:34.4	contemptuous.
0:36.1	Think of how easy it was for David, this newly proclaimed hero.
0:43.7	How easy for him to feel cocky, arrogant, contemptuous, and declare himself to be the wonder kid.
0:56.8	But none of that happened with David. None of that.
1:05.7	Why? Because David's faith was in God. David trust was in God. David confidence came from God, and because he knew that his courage is not of his own, but from God.
1:12.0	And God gave favor to David with all of the people and with the crown prince Jonathan,
1:20.9	but he did not have a favor with the king.
1:23.9	Saul.
1:25.1	In fact, Saul wanted to kill David instead of thanking him for saving his hide.
1:32.2	There are many lessons here from the Word of God. The God who calls you to a task is the God
1:41.0	who will equip you for the task. The God who called you to a task is a God who will equip you for the task.
1:50.5	The God who called you to a task is the very God who will use you,
1:57.7	even uses inconceivable people and events to fulfill his purpose for you to accomplish the task that he called you to do. Let me give you some other
2:03.2	biblical examples. In Genesis 39, 21, we read that the Lord gave favor to Joseph with the prison
2:13.6	keeper. In Exodus 321, the Lord caused the Israelites to have favor with the Egyptians,
2:22.9	so much so that the Egyptians literally gave the Israelites their wealth as they were leaving
2:27.8	the country. God is the one who gives a favor. In Esther chapter 5, verse 2, it was God who gave Esther favor in the sight of the
