It's astonishing. It's like every day this one is called a new history of the American South and all out about history of the American South, I took

courses on that before. This is new, as you know, the Confederate flag still waves

in some places, taken down in other places, very controversial. What in the world does that stand for why were all

those statues from the Civil War still there in the night 20th century what so let's look

at this this is 12 30 minute lectures the geography of the American South, very different from the geography of the American North, also populated by different people from Europe.

Not the Native Americans, that's a whole other course.

The world of slavery, how slavery becomes American.

The southern colonies take root, the southern states and the new nation,

war uprising in southern solidarity, the birth of the cotton

south, evangelical faith in the south, arguments for it against slavery, and so on, the life

in the slave south.

24 lectures the end of the war in slavery, reconstruction,

and all that in the late 19th century.

Now we're under the 20th, segregation, lynching, and disenfranchisement, and on and on.

It's a dark history that we should all learn.

Not the 1619 project, not the 1776 project.

Just, you know, it's okay to have complexities in history.
