My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.

I adore you with profound reverence.

I ask your pardon for my sins, and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful.

My immaculate mother, St. Joseph, my father and Lord, my guardian angel,

intercede for me. One hundred years have passed since that day in 1925 when St.

Josimaria was ordained to the priesthood.

As we look back today especially,

we are stunned by the extraordinary efficacy

of his response to God's call.

St. John Henry Newman captures our sentiments

when he says,

great saints, great events, great privileges, like the everlasting mountains, grow as we recede from them.

Well, today, the 100th anniversary of that ordination,

let us not limit ourselves to admiring this giant, but rather let us examine his life in order to draw out lessons for ourselves.

Today also is a special day to pray for all priests.

And we could say especially the priests listening to this meditation.

St. Hosomria is especially close to each one of them.

In fact, he was so concerned about the holiness of diocesan priests that back in the 50s,

he took the heroic decision to leave Opus Day in order to create a new foundation for priests,

until the Lord showed him that priests could form part of Opus Day by means of the priestly society

of the Holy Cross. One way for us to learn from this giant of the church is to consider

the days leading up to his 50th anniversary as related by one of his biographers.
