I think every pastor has a story like this.

Usually it's a young man or sometimes a not so young man

who comes and joins their church.

And at first everybody's really excited,

this guy seems to know everything about theology.

He's read all of the books. He's, you know, listen to every podcast that there is.

He can quote Bavink and he can quote Berkov and he can quote the reconstructionists and he can

quote them all at length seems like a really knowledgeable mature Christian guy.

But then things begin to happen, cracks begin to show. Pretty soon you find out that this really spiritually mature guy is gossiping and accusing and dividing and he's an expert on the law and on theology

but he doesn't seem to obey any of it and pretty soon the pastors have to get involved

bring correction it doesn't always end well.

There's a reason that Paul in Titus 3 8 through 11 urges us to do good works and not just

talk about them.

He warns us against those who would rather quarrel about the law

than obey it in that same passage.

He says, the saying is trustworthy

and I want you to insist on these things.

So that those who have believed in God may be careful

to devote themselves to do good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. But
