In the Book of Acts Chapter 13, we get a glimpse of Paul's first missionary journey.

His effort to spread the gospel was fraught with opposition.

Even so, Paul demonstrated grit and grace.

Today, on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall continues to tell this story.

He's making seven observations about Paul's strong resolve, because his response to adversity

provides a model for us today.

First, Paul was firm.

Second, he was undeterred.

Third, he was vocal. Fourth, he was undeterred. Third, he was vocal.

Fourth, he refused to quit.

Let's pick up the story in Acts 13, titled A Game Plan for Facing Extreme Circumstances.

When he was rejected, he did not quit.

Because, you see, as many as showed up to hear, verse 45 tells us another story.

When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy. Isn't that interesting?

Jealousy over how many came to the meeting. That still goes on, by the way. And they began

contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and they were blaspheming. Paul and Barnabas threw a pity party

and said, we quit. No. Paul and Barnabas spoke a pity party and said, we quit.

No.

Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said it was necessary the word of God be spoken to you first.

Since you repudiated and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles.

Verse 48, when the Gentiles heard this, hot dog!

Or something like that.
