George Ian Ogilvy Duncan was born on July 20, 1930 in London England, as the only child of New Zealand-born parents.

After immigrating to Victoria in 1937, George attended the Melbourne Grammar School, graduated in 1947, and began work on an honors degree in classical philology at the University of Melbourne.

Unfortunately, that particular plan was derailed when George contracted tuberculosis in 1950.

But just seven years later, he entered St. John's College in Cambridge, where he was awarded

a BA in 1960, a Bachelor of Laws in 1961, a master's in 1963, and a PhD in 1964.

Wasting no time from 1966 to 1971, George taught law part-time at the University of Bristol

and published his thesis in 1971.

Shortly after publishing, Dr. George Duncan, now a relatively wealthy man, made his way back

to Australia on March 25, 1972, to take up a lectureship in law at the University of Adelaide,

unidentified man, were each grabbed, thrust over railing, and thrown into the river in three separate incidents.
