It's time for us to dig into the book of Romans again, chapter 6, verse number 23. But before we we do I want to ask you to do me a favor

I want to ask you to actually do a favor for Jesus for the kingdom of God by telling someone

about the morning mindset. If you just pause for a moment and think about what God has done in

your life through you listening to the morning mindset day after

day after day over months sometimes years people have been listening to the morning

mindset you'll recognize there is value in hearing the word of God taught day by day

by day and there's someone in your life who could benefit from that just like you have

friends. Okay, before we dig into Romans 623, we need to pray

because we need God's help to understand God's thoughts that are communicated here in God's word.

So Lord, that's exactly what we ask you to do. Give us minds to understand and hearts to embrace what you have to say to us today.

Make us pliable and teachable and open so that we can receive the fullness of what you have to say to us.

In Jesus' name, amen. All right, Romans 6.23 is one of those verses that almost encapsulates the entire purpose of Jesus

Christ in one short verse. Let's read it together and then we'll talk about how that's true. It says,

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God

is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord. So the apostle Paul has been telling us in the previous

verses that we have been slaves of sin, this power called sin.

We've been bound to it, having to obey its dictates. We had no power to do otherwise.

And that only leads us to death. Now, what is referring to is back in Genesis chapters 1, 2, and 3, when God created the world,
