Gilt, shame, regret.

These emotions are common to all of us.

No one escapes.

Our sinful nature carries a heavy dose of them all.

So how do we know when God is using these emotions to send us a message?

And how can we get free from the tyranny of guilt, shame, and regret?

Furthermore, how do we extend grace and mercy to others?

Those are questions Chuck Swindall will answer as he begins a new teaching series today on Insight for Living.

His first message in this study is titled A Fly Over Glance at Gilt and Grace.

We're looking together at Romans chapter 5.

I want to read for you just a few verses at the end of the chapter, which serves as a bit of a prologue for the great chapters 6, 7 and 8 of this letter.

Paul to the Romans.

The section is a section that focuses on our relationship with Christ that is based on grace.

It is a grace relationship that is free of guilt.

It is free of shame.

It is victorious over the grave and death.

However, it is a relationship that is, for some strange reason, rarely entered into by God's people.

It's almost as if we either haven't heard about it or we're afraid of it as if we were to take advantage of it.

But in fact, grace is to be lived out since we have been rescued through Christ at the cross and now live in the realm of grace before our God.

We have no fear in the sense of fright before God.

We know He is holy and we respect that, but we live freely before Him and our great hope in life is to help others become free rather than live under the shackles of guilt and defeat and sin.

Paul sets us up for that in these verses that we're looking at.
