As soon as I got the job at CNN, I said, I want to have a divorce.

Today's guest is journalist and author Alison Kosick.

She was formerly at CNN for 15 years interviewing some of the best and brightest CEOs, investors, executives.

I was CNN's business correspondent for 15 years, often reporting from the New York Stock Exchange,

but in my own life, I didn't manage my own financial life.

I let my husband handle all things financial, which wound up being the biggest mistake of my life

because when the marriage went bad, because I had relied on him, I felt stuck in the marriage. We're going to be diving into her book, What's Up with Women and Money? And we're going to get into why women don't have the confidence to do certain things that men do. I grew up with an emotionally abusive dad. I grew up around a lot of emotional terrorism, basically, I would call it. And I didn't have a lot of confidence in myself so that affected my ability to make decisions about my money.

One of the first guests I had was, like, if women talked about money the way they talk about sex and family, how much further along would we do?
