I want to begin today's study in the Psalms with a proverb, and it is Proverbs chapter 21, verse 31,

that says, the horse is prepared against the day of battle, but safety is of the Lord.

I've had this verse on my mind now for several days.

It is a battlefield. The idea is that the soldier has to make preparation. He has to get his horse

all of that has to come from the Lord alone. I truly believe that one verse summarizes Psalm 140. Psalm 140 was written by David, and most

people believe it was written when David was being persecuted, hunted, because of a man

named Doeg. Doeig was an Edomite. You can read all about the story in 1st Samuel chapter

number 22. David literally is running for his life.

His enemies surrounding him, hunting him like a wild animal, and where does he turn? He does all he
