Three pieces of news today regarding our football team.

I'll give them to you in the order in which they came during the course of late morning into the afternoon.

First up was that offensive lineman Nick Allegretti is getting a contract extension

through 2027. So he had one more year on his deal. They added a year and with a lowered cap number

for this year. Where does Allegretti fit in? Well, I think we knew they were going to keep him when they released Tyler Biotish last week.

Maybe Allegretti is the plan to start at Center next year.

We know that Steve Souter's not a big fan of that.

Souter was on the show with us on Friday, and he thinks that would be a downgrade from Tyler Biotish.

But with Chris Paul, a possibility to leave in free agency, it could be that Allegretti is being

kept to start at left guard. If it's none of the above, he's a versatile backup, and given that he can play center, in particular,

if they don't add a new center in free agency or in the draft, they at least have an option.

You know, they won't be under pressure to go out and overpay or overdraft a center.

Allegredy gives them that versatility, that option.

So that was the first piece of news.

Allegrety extended by a year and a lowered cap number in 2026.

The second piece of news, and it's barely news because we've known this was coming for months now.

But Marshawn Latimore has been informed he'll be released.

The cap savings huge with Latimore.

We've been talking about this since he got injured against Seattle in early November.
