Joshua and the people of Israel faced great tragedy in the Valley of Acor.

It's a picture of our own struggles and failures.

But Nancy Leigh-Demaw says, we don't have to stay in that place of failure.

Jesus is the only one who can turn our Valley of Acour into a door of hope.

He's the one who, at Calvary, went into the Valley of Acre into a door of hope. He's the one who at Calvary

went into the Valley of Acor

and took our trouble upon himself.

He took the consequences for our sins.

He died in our place

so that for us, the Valley of Acore could be transformed into a door of help.

Nancy picks up that story in the series Lessons from the Life of Joshua, Part 10, Rising from

Defeat. Well, we ended the last session on a pretty heavy note, pretty sober, somber note,

and we're going to pick up on that same note today.

There's no light way to talk about sin. There's no light way to talk about the story of Aiken.

We see in this story that God is a holy God and that God takes sin seriously, that there's no such

thing as a trivial sin and that we need to take sin seriously. We see that all sin has consequences.

And as I have been meditating on this chapter, I'm just reminded, I'm going to remind you

that if you go back to the first verse of this chapter, you realize that God knew all along

what Aiken had done. Joshua 7, verse 1, God tells us, who did it? And what he did? God knew it long before Joshua
