Summary

Retired Intelligence Detective Gary Jenkins interviews Sean Griffin, author of Gaming the Game: The Story behind the NBA Betting Scandal and other nonfiction crime-related books. Sean has a different take on the NBA referee in the eye of the storm, Tim Donaghy. After the recent Netflix documentary, Sean started speaking out about how the media takes everything Tim Donaghy claims as the truth. Sean published his book based on an examination of the date, and he came to different conclusions. For example, Sean believes the mafia never knew who Donaghy was, destroying the claim that he was afraid to stop giving his picks to his favorite bookie. Sean believes that Tim Donaghy did make some dubious referee calls on games he bet on the outcome. This is a must-listen interview if you are interested in the NBA and the huge gaming interests surrounding these contests. For example, did you know some gamblers can bet large enough amounts in China or Japan to influence the line? Then after they know they have changed the line arbitrarily, they make their real bets in the United States. One of these gamblers told Sean about the Mafia, “We are the whales; they are the fish.” Support the Podcast Hit me up on Venmo for a cup of coffee or a shot and a beer @ganglandwireClick here to “buy me a cup of coffee” To go to the store or make a donation or rent Ballot Theft: Burglary, Murder, Coverup  click here To rent Brothers against Brothers, the documentary, click here.  To rent Gangland Wire, the documentary, click here To buy my Kindle book, Leaving Vegas: The True Story of How FBI Wiretaps Ended Mob Domination of Las Vegas Casinos.
