A different type of launch for SpaceX. From Marketplace, I'm Nancy Marshall Ginsburg in Washington.

SpaceX is set to go public next Friday, if all goes according to plan. The company is seeking

a valuation of nearly $2 trillion. That would be the biggest initial public offering on record, and it would make

CEO Elon Musk the world's first trillionaire. Marketplace's Nova Saffo has more.

In an unusual move, SpaceX publicly announced the price it's seeking for its initial public

offering, $135 per share. That would generate $75 billion for the company and value it at nearly

$1 trillion,750 billion, immediately making it one of the biggest publicly listed companies.

That valuation is a bit higher than Facebook parent meta, which last year brought in

$200 billion in revenues and made $60 billion in profit.

During that same time, SpaceX brought in less than $20 billion and lost $2.5 billion.

The company is actually several in one, including X, once Twitter, an aerospace company,

a satellite network provider, and a developer of artificial intelligence.

Once public,

Musk will hold more than 82% of the voting power in the company through stock ownership.
