i'm with carl Truman and am. And this week, the week of the

recording of this particular episode, we are looking back at the 10th anniversary of Colin Hansen's

rather famous article that ran in Christianity today on September 22, 2006, the 10th anniversary

of the young, restless, and reformed, the 10th anniversary of the Young, Restless, and Reformed.

Not 10th anniversary of the movement, but the 10th anniversary of that article that really

named it, Young, Restless, and Reformed, and caught a lot of attention, not just in Christian

media, but in secular media as well.

Suddenly, a younger generation of people were

beginning to talk about John Calvin and Jonathan Edwards and Martin Luther and beginning to tout

doctrines of grace. And this was going on among young Southern Baptists of all people who were

beginning to invoke theological heroes from the Puritan era and from

the era of the Reformation. Names like John Piper had become very big. And so Hansen in that

article traces a little bit of the development of this new movement at that time, what he

called the Young Restless and Reformed.

And we just want to reflect a little bit on what we appreciate about that movement

and maybe some observations about what might be considered weaknesses in that movement.

So Carl and Amy, as we think about the article, what were some of your first

observations in Hanson's article? I think first of all, it's important to remember the context.
