0:43.0	But first, a DEA crackdown on telehealth prescribing. That's today's one big thing.
0:51.0	The DEA proposed new rules last week that would require doctors to see patients in person before they can prescribe medication like oxycontin and Adderall.
1:04.0	Axios's Sabrina Moreno has been reporting on what these proposed changes could mean for behavior health and addiction treatment.
1:11.0	So Sabrina, what exactly is the DEA proposing?
1:16.0	A change to those pandemic inspired policies that allowed patients to access some controlled substances like Adderall or oxycontin via telehealth,
1:26.0	even if a person has never seen the doctor in person.
1:30.0	And so now some patients will be required to have that in person visit before getting a refill on their medication.
1:36.0	But the only exception is for people Northfein, which is used to treat opioid use disorder and can really reduce the risk of future overdoses.
1:45.0	Folks who are on that are able to have a 30 day refill before seeing their provider in person or being required to do that.
1:54.0	That's if they have never seen their provider in person.
1:57.0	Sabrina, what's the catalyst behind these proposed changes?
2:02.0	So this is actually something that's been in the works for a really long time clinicians and providers have really been wanting a lot more clarity on what remote prescribing might look like.
