Summary

If you could call a number and say you’re sorry, and no one would know…what would you apologize for? For fifteen years, you could call a number in Manhattan and do just that. This is the story of the line, and the man at the other end who became consumed by his own creation. He was known as “Mr. Apology.” As thousands of callers flooded the line, confessing to everything from shoplifting to infidelity, drug dealing to murder, Mr. Apology realized he couldn’t just listen. He had to do something, even if it meant risking everything. From Wondery the makers of Dr. Death and The Shrink Next Door, comes a story about empathy, deception and obsession. Marissa Bridge, who knew Mr. Apology better than anyone, hosts this six episode series. Listen today at http://wondery.fm/MorningCupofMurder January 19th: Alice Riley Dies (1735) Most people would love to have their names written in the history books. To do something incredible that changed how the world worked and keep your name cemented in the minds of people until the end of time. On January 19th 1735 a woman named Alice Riley would do just that. Though I think, if given the choice, she would have chosen a different reason to have her name written into history.  Shop NEW Merch now!  https://www.bonfire.com/store/morningcupofmurder/ Become a supporter of this podcast on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/morningcupofmurder Follow Morning Cup of Murder on Twitter: https://twitter.com/cupofmurder @cupofmurder Follow MCOM on Instagram: @morningcupofmurder Have a Murder or strange local true crime story you want to share, or you just want to say hi?
