as a bartender at a West Liberty bar owned by his grandmother. By all accounts, he seemed like a typical

brutally taken away from him on October 13, 1992. On that evening, 911 operators received a call

from his fiance, saying the 22-year-old was, quote, all-bloody, not breathing, and cold to the touch.
