Summary

On episode 220 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, we are welcomed by a very special panel of former Navy servicemen to discuss their involvement in the now-famous "Tic Tac" event off the West Coast in 2004 and the "Gimbal" and "Go Fast" events off the East Coast in 2015. Gary Voorhis and Jason Turner describe the dramatic string of events that would ultimately lead to fighter jets being scrambled to intercept the mysterious, oblong-shaped object we've seen in the official Navy video released by the Department of Defense. Then, Matthew Roberts discusses the atmosphere on the USS Theodore Roosevelt when the other two DoD-released videos were filmed and how it was handled in real-time. More importantly, we discuss the impact these events have had on these men during and after, and how it has ultimately led to all three of them continuing to search for answers both in the skies, and from within. 0:43.0	And I got so many of my own questions and questions from you, the audience, that these three gentlemen are going to answer for you today.
0:51.0	So let's not waste any more time. Let's get to the panel discussion with Gary Voorhees, Jason Turner, and Matthew Roberts.

1:02.0	Gentlemen, first off, I want to thank you for your service. And I also want to thank you for coming to this very special panel discussion.
1:09.0	And I'm sure a lot of our audience are very familiar with the Go Fast, the gimbal, the Tick-Tack videos.
1:15.0	But they may not be too familiar with each of your direct involvement in these events.
1:20.0	So today we're going to break that down. We're going to get an idea of what you guys experienced.
1:25.0	How it affected your lives, first and foremost. But before we do that, I'd like to just get an idea of who you guys are.
1:32.0	Maybe tell us a little about yourselves and your time in serving and maybe what your duties were.
1:39.0	So Jason, yeah, if you don't mind, man, could you start?
1:43.0	Yeah, so yeah, I was on board the USS Princeton from 2001 to 2005, served in the supply department as a logistic specialist.
1:53.0	My direct involvement with this was there had been a computer chip that was ordered.
2:01.0	And I took it up to CES, which is a ship signal exploitation space.
2:06.0	And that's where I got to see the longer video of the whole Tick-Tack encounter with a chat underwood that he recorded on his gun camera.
2:22.0	Right, right. And I mean, the story goes from there and it kind of exploded into the mainstream ever since.
2:30.0	And I know we have some questions about that extended video that you saw that we'll get to a little bit later.
2:36.0	Because that is a big source of contention. You know, we see this very limited video for the past few years.
2:42.0	But you and several others have talked about possibly seeing a much more clear and a much longer video.
2:49.0	So we will definitely get to that. But next Gary, would you mind telling us a little about your time in the Navy, what you did, what your duties were?
