I mentioned earlier in the week how much I was looking forward to this podcast today,

interviewing Nick Walsh, who's had a very amazing life for a young man,

growing up in a small town in Kansas, becoming an all-big-12 punter,

having a shot at the NFL, getting hurt, and becoming a singer-songwriter in Nashville,

and now signing with a major label and writing hit records for Luke Combs.

This is quite the conversation.

We'll have it for you in a couple of moments, but just a little shop business here, if you will, if you'll indulge me for just a moment. The beautiful part

about this podcast, when I named it, was sports, politics, live, so there would be times

where I could do anything. And when my friend Andy Subur, who he and his wife, have advanced

medical imaging in Lawrence, they're great

folks. And we've known him for several years. And he knows Nick and has known him for a while.

He said, if I connect the two of you, I really don't want anything other than just to hear a couple

of my buddies talking about the things that they talk about and see how it goes on a podcast.

And I said, well, that's quite flattering.

And I looked more into Nick.

And I'd heard his story in the past.

I knew what it was about just a little bit.

But I didn't realize that he was about to hit the big time with a song by Luke

Combs called Be by You.

Now, I don't know if this is legal or not, but at the end of the podcast, I'm going to play it for you. You're going to hear us talking about it. It'll be part of the interview and such with Nick. And I'll play it for you at the end after the interview with Nick is over. So stick around for that if you'd like to hear it. It hasn't hit radio yet, but Luke Combs released it on his Instagram through a YouTube page a couple of weeks ago, and it shot up to the number two song on the internet. Immediately, the number two song on the internet, I think it's going to be a smash hit. Once it hits radio, that's where all the real money is for a guy like Nick Walsh, who's one of three writers on the song. We're going to talk football and life and writing songs and all kinds of cool things with Nick Walsh coming right up.
