He is the director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). He also holds the Beth and Ravenel Curry Chair in Public Policy. The founding and current editor of National Affairs, he is also a senior editor of The New Atlantis and a contributing editor to National Review. Dr. Levin served as a member of the White House domestic policy staff under President George W. Bush. He was also executive director of the President’s Council on Bioethics and a congressional staffer at the member, committee, and leadership levels. always do in the area of institutions. Some of you who get my newsletter know that we talked a little bit about what I call the Parks and Rec rule of public meetings because of the clip that went around taking people at city council meetings and boards of supervisors

meetings who were screaming and saying crazy things about masks and and whatever and they put it alongside clips from Parks and Rec because the

joke was the entire world has become the sitcom Parks and Recreation and what we talked about the newsletter is it's always

been that way largely because the people who show up at city council meetings or any sort of open mic forum tend to be the people who care the

most about what's going on and sometimes those are people who aren't as calm or reasonable as maybe even most people in their

cities or in their town. So there's something that goes on with institutions that can skew them.
