1:10.4	We are the ethics and moral concern commission of the Southern Baptist
1:15.2	Convention. Our guest today is Dr. Francis Collins. He was appointed the
1:21.1	16th director of the National Institutes of Health by President Barack Obama.
1:26.7	He was sworn in on August 17th, 2009.
1:30.9	On June 6, 2017, President Donald Trump announced his selection of Dr. Collins to continue to serve as the director of the NIH.
1:40.0	And in this role, the National Institutes of Health Director,
1:43.1	he oversees the work of the largest supporter
1:46.7	of biomedical research in the world,
1:49.4	spanning the spectrum from basic research
1:52.4	to clinical research. And so we are very thankful for his work there.
1:56.1	But he also is a physician geneticist noted for his landmark discoveries of disease genes and his leadership of the International Human Genome Project,
