So I'm recording this on Monday November 2nd the day before election day so nerves are certainly running a little bit high here.

Nerves are also running pretty high because after a stint of conducting and jump-ins for

quarantine-trapped conductors over the last few weeks, all of a sudden, as you probably are

aware, much of Europe is back in lockdown and I'm looking at

the possibility of at least another two months without any concerts.

Yesterday afternoon I conducted in Liverpool and it was pretty strange because back in February I had no idea

that a concert with the Oslo Philharmonic would be my last one for six months.

I remember actually being quite sick that week, coughing up a storm, but still getting myself through the concert,

all while staying as far away from the musicians as possible while we joked that I must have this mysterious new coronavirus.
