Like the time both of us were sick for so long that we couldn't record Catherine the Great Part 2 for this week's show but, instead, have this conversation between Beckett and Carol Wallace? Funny in a "well, that's a little different" way. In 2010 one of us- Beckett- wanted to hear a podcast like her favorite book of all time, To Marry an English Lord, by Gail MacColl and Carol Wallace, but couldn't find one. So we made one. 0:00.0	Hello and welcome to the History Check. This is Beckett and I have some good news and some bad news for you.
0:13.7	I know you're all expecting Catherine the Great Part 2 and believe me we expected it too.
0:18.8	But on recording day I had strap and Susan had the flu and we just couldn't face being
0:24.2	typhoid Mary's for the rest of our families so we simply didn't meet when we were supposed to.
0:28.5	So I was casting around for a solution for what to give you today and I thought of a conversation
0:32.8	that I had with Carol Wallace last year. She wrote the book to Mary and English Lord that inspired
0:37.7	Julian Fellows to create Downton Naby and incidentally inspired us to start this very podcast.
0:42.7	It's all about the American eras in the Golden Age who married into the British aristocracy
0:47.6	like Lady Grantham did on Downton Naby. We started out by talking about a certain episode of Downton
0:52.7	Naby. Season 5, episode 3 in which Lord Grantham is being a condescending pill to his wife Korra
0:59.3	and drives her into the orbit of the art expert which I think you can still watch at pbs.org maybe
1:05.1	for a small fee. Anyway I put a link to a recap in the show notes if you need to refresh your memory.
1:10.1	But that's not all we talked about. So here's my conversation with Carol Wallace, author of
